Aada: A Bridge between Tradition and Innovation
The word “Aada”, from the Mandingo language, means “tradition” or “custom”, embodying the very essence of preserving and promoting ancestral African knowledge. In the context of Aada 1236, it symbolises unity, harmony and connection between Africa and its diasporas, while serving as a dynamic crossroads for cultural exchange. Aada also represents a collective space where traditions are reinterpreted through modern technologies, paying homage to cultural legacies while opening up perspectives towards innovative and inclusive art forms.
1236: A Year of Justice and Reconciliation
The year 1236 marks the proclamation of the Charter of Kurukan Fuga by Sundiata Keita, establishing the founding principles of justice, equality and reconciliation in the Mali Empire.
